Job Information
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.
DEPARTMENT: Anchorage Fire Department
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 16:30 (or alternate schedule upon management approval)
LOCATION: 1301 E 80th Avenue
** Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range **

Example of Duties
Provide support for AFD information systems. Provide business process analysis, produce requirements, specifications, and work plans for implementing and maintaining technology solutions. Implement, maintain, and administer AFD information systems. Conduct training sessions, respond to trouble calls, and evaluate technology purcahses. Provide project leadership to other technical workers, customers, and vendors. Design and execute test plans to ensure business requirements are satisfied. Author code to develop reports and create custom applications. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and eight (8) years of experience in the field related to the position.
OR
Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline, and six (6) years of experience in the field related to the position.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline, and four (4) years of experience in the field related to the position.
OR
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline, and two (2) years of experience in the field related to the position.
Must posess and/or obtain:
- Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
- Satisfactory Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check within 6 months of hire.
- Valid State of Alaska driver’s license and satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
