This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union.
DEPARTMENT: Planning, Development, and Public Works
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00
LOCATION: 4700 Elmore Road
Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties
Perform Functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) duties for the Project Systems (PS) module of SAP and assist other Municipal departments as the SME in the SAP Project Costing module. Plan, organize, direct, administer and evaluate Road Service Area (RSA) Program outside of Anchorage Roads and Drainage Service Area (ARDSA); including planning, annexations, elections, contracting, budgeting, and financial control. Provide RSA supervisory boards and general public with information via public meetings, memorandum and telephonically. Determine RSA operating and capital fiscal requirements, develop preliminary budgets and coordinate final budget submittal. Lead professional staff accountants to ensure all capital bonds and grants are expensed properly and prepare financial reports for reimbursement or capitalization. Control, monitor, and evaluate capital financial activities of the Department. Oversee the billing process for state and federal grants and federal highway (TEA21) projects. Resolve citizen complaints through coordination with board members and contractors. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and seven (7) years of experience in accounting, payroll, or similar office responsibility.
OR
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline, and five (5) years of professional accounting work experience.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline, and three (3) years of professional accounting work experience.
OR
A certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and three (3) years of professional accounting work experience.
Must possess and/or obtain:
- Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
