This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.
DEPARTMENT: Public Transportation
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 16:00
LOCATION: 3600 Dr MLK Jr Avenue

Example of Duties
Under the direction of the Transit Operations General Manager, the Transit Operation Superintendent oversee the day-to-day transit operations for dispatch. Directly supervise dispatch lead(s), field inspectors, operation coordinator and provide oversight and guidance of dispatch specialists and bus operator(s) activity. Works with administrative personnel to ensure operations and dispatching activities are in compliance with municipal, local, state, and federal policies/procedures/regulations. Establishes accountability and compliance of department goals; manage and develop Transit Operation goals and objectives. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and nine (9) years of experience specific to the responsibilities of the role, which includes two (2) years in a supervisory or lead position.
OR
Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Communications, Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, electrical/automation technology, or a related discipline, and seven (7) years of experience specific to the responsibilities of the role, which includes two (2) years in a supervisory or lead position.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Communications, Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline, and five (5) years of experience specific to the responsibilities of the role, which includes two (2) years in a supervisory or lead position.
Must possess and/or obtain:
- Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
- Valid State of Alaska driver’s license and satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
