Job Information
Open to current Municipal employees working within the Public Transportation Department, affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers - Technicians (IBEW-Tech), Local 1547.
This position is represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 1547 (Technicians) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 1547 (Technicians).DEPARTMENT: Public Transportation
HOURS OF WORK: Shifts vary; Schedule based on seniority: 40 hours per week within Monday - Sunday. (Graveyard shift included)
LOCATION: 3701 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Avenue

Applicants shall be referred and considered for this position in the order as follows per the Collective Bargaining Agreement:
- Internal applicants currently working under the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers - Technicians (IBEW-Tech), Local 1547 Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Local union dispatched applicants
- External applicants and other current Municipal employees not covered under this agreement
Example of Duties
Responsible for the consistent and detailed cleaning of vehicle interiors on Public Transportation Department buses. Clean exterior and interior, fuel, and service the staff, shop and cutaways (22' units). Provide consistent methods to effectively clean a variety of finishes. Apply attention to detail to ensure that all vehicles receive a consistent level of cleaning. Identify methods and techniques to improve the efficiency while maintaining cleanliness and appearance of finishes. Also cleans floors, equipment, and areas within the maintenance buildings. Perform other required duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and experience in the operation of small hand tools and performing unskilled heavy manual labor.
All applicants must possess and/or complete:
· A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
Preferences:- Experience in detailing and/or servicing vehicles in a fleet type environment Industrial cleaning experience.
