Job Information
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.
DEPARTMENT: Public Transportation
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00
LOCATION: 3625 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue
Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties
The Transit Travel Advocate involves conducting interviews and assessments to determine eligibility for public transportation services for a diverse population, assessing travel skills and verifying use of aids, developing personalized training plans, and maintaining knowledge of transportation regulations and all modes offered by the Public transportation Department. Additionally, the role includes providing instructions and advocacy for public transportation, organizing client documents, responding to transportation requests, handling policy adherence, processing eligibility applications, utilizing software for data input, evaluating programs, resolving complaints and performing administrative tasks as needed. Additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in a health and/or social services work environment.
OR
Associate’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Nutrition or a closely related discipline, and experience in health and/or social services work environment.
A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
