Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources - Payroll Services Division
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
LOCATION: 632 West 6th Avenue Suite 605
** Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range **

Example of Duties
Ensure the timely processing of the bi-weekly payroll. Review and prepare off-cycle checks and ACH payments for certain payroll liabilities and approve payroll documents during orientation. Assist in answering questions regarding contractual agreements, Municipal Polices & Procedures, and State and Federal laws. Prepare data/information for grievance settlements/resolutions for Labor. Analyze payroll data and perform payroll reporting functions required by Federal and State laws, Municipal Policies & Procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and other authorities to include: assist in the calculation and remittance of payroll taxes for Municipal employees; process data and payment contributions to the State of Alaska Department of Labor and; prepare periodic reports on payroll activity. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline and two (2) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience.
OR
A certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and two (2) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience.
OR
Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline and four (4) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience.
OR
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and six (6) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience.
