Job Information

Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union.

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance & Operations

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday; 40 hours per week; Rotating stand-by

LOCATION: 12001 Business Boulevard, Eagle River

Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties

This position schedules, assigns, monitors, implements, directs, and approves the field operations for $6-9 million dollar per year annual road maintenance and capital improvement service contract. Evaluate equipment, performance, and material needs for economical and efficient use of resources. Inspect road and drainage systems for problems and identify maintenance and/or construction solutions to remedy situation. Respond to public inquiries about various road and drainage concerns and identify solutions when applicable. Respond to emergencies as required through on-call responsibilities. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and seven (7) years of experience in the field related to the position.

OR

Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance, or similar discipline, and five (5) years of experience in the field related to the position.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance, or similar discipline, and three (3) years of experience in the field related to the position.

Must possess and/or obtain:

  • Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
  • Valid State of Alaska Erosion and Sediment Control Lead Certification within 90 days of hire.
