Job Information

Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the current provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

** Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range **

Example of Duties

This position is responsible for processing Information Technology incidents and service requests received via telephone, email, web, and in person. Requests are documented, triaged, and either resolved at the Service Desk or escalated to another ITD resource as necessary. Provides technical advice, guidance and informal training to customers using hardware and software programs. Troubleshoots and restores service by analyzing, identifying, and diagnosing faults and symptoms using established processes and procedures. Configures, installs, monitors, and maintains desktop software and hardware. Supports mobile workforce. Works in a team setting, sharing information and assisting others with calls. Performs other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

 

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and five (5) years of technical/professional MIS experience, working with clients on the resolution of computer problems and/or the configuration of hardware, software, and network facilities.

OR

Associate’s degree in Computer Science, or related field, and three (3) years of technical/professional MIS experience, working with clients on the resolution of computer problems and/or the configuration of hardware, software, and network facilities.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field, and one (1) year of technical/professional MIS experience, working with clients on the resolution of computer problems and/or the configuration of hardware, software, and network facilities.

· A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record, at time of hire.

· Satisfactory Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check within 30 days of hire.
