Job Information
Open to the general public and any current Municipal.
This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
LOCATION: City Hall - 632 W 6th Ave, 4th Floor

Example of Duties
Assist municipal customers with using information technology, troubleshoot, evaluate, and resolve network data cabling/connectivity and desktop hardware/software/network problems; utilize specialized test equipment and software tools for troubleshooting. Assist with new hardware, software, data network installations or moves/adds/changes. Perform computer operations and systems administration functions on various municipal computing platforms. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and six (6) years of technical/professional MIS experience, working with clients on the resolution of computer problems and/or the configuration of hardware, software, and network facilities, one (1) year of which must be equivalent to Information Center Consultant I with the Municipality, or equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Associate’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, and four (4) years of technical/professional MIS experience, working with clients on the resolution of computer problems and/or the configuration of hardware, software, and network facilities, one (1) year of which must be equivalent to Information Center Consultant I with the Municipality, or equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, and two (2) years of technical/professional MIS experience, working with clients on the resolution of computer problems and/or the configuration of hardware, software, and network facilities, one (1) year of which must be equivalent to Information Center Consultant I with the Municipality, or equivalent elsewhere.
A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License at time of hire.
Satisfactory Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check within 30 days of hire.
