Job Information

 

Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

 

This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

 

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology

HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday  8am to 5pm

LOCATION: City Hall - 632 W 6th Ave, 4th Floor

 

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

 

To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.

 

 

Example of Duties

Assist municipal customers with using information technology, troubleshoot, evaluate, and resolve network data cabling/connectivity and desktop hardware/software/network problems; utilize specialized test equipment and software tools for troubleshooting. Assist with new hardware, software, data network installations or moves/adds/changes. Perform computer operations and systems administration functions on various municipal computing platforms. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

 

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and six (6) years of technical/professional MIS experience, working with clients on the resolution of computer problems and/or the configuration of hardware, software, and network facilities, one (1) year of which must be equivalent to Information Center Consultant I with the Municipality, or equivalent elsewhere.

OR

Associate’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, and four (4) years of technical/professional MIS experience, working with clients on the resolution of computer problems and/or the configuration of hardware, software, and network facilities, one (1) year of which must be equivalent to Information Center Consultant I with the Municipality, or equivalent elsewhere.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, and two (2) years of technical/professional MIS experience, working with clients on the resolution of computer problems and/or the configuration of hardware, software, and network facilities, one (1) year of which must be equivalent to Information Center Consultant I with the Municipality, or equivalent elsewhere.

Must possess a valid State of Alaska Driver’s License and satisfactory Driving Record at time of hire.

 

Must have a satisfactory Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check within 30 days of hire.
