This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.
 

DEPARTMENT: Port of Alaska

HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

LOCATION: 1871 Anchorage Port Road

** Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range **

Example of Duties

Under the direction of the Port Operations and Maintenance Superintendent, this position is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and oversight of Port operations and security. The individual will work closely with other Port divisions to effectively coordinate resources, ensuring operational efficiency and the delivery of high-quality service to all Port clients. The incumbent must be a certified Facility Security Officer within 30 days of hire, able to secure a TWIC card, and demonstrate proficiency in the use of all Port operational platforms that support the mission of the Port of Alaska. Additional responsibilities will include performing other duties as assigned to advance the Port’s strategic and operational objectives. On Call duties will be assigned as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

 

High school diploma, GED or equivalent and eight (8) years of experience in the field related to the position. 

OR

Associate’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Purchasing, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and six (6) years of experience in the field related to the position. 

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Purchasing, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and four (4) years of experience in the field related to the position.

OR

Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Purchasing, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and two (2) years of experience in the field related to the position.

AND
  • Employment is conditional based on a satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history.
  • State of Alaska Driver's License and Satisfactory DMV report.
  • Certified Facility Security Officer within thirty (30) days of hire. 
  • Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) within forty-five (45) days of hire.
