Job Information

Open to the general public and any current Municipal Employee. 

 This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and are subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

DEPARTMENT: Finance
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., TBD at time of hire
LOCATION: 632 W. 6th Ave; Suite 810 Anchorage, AK 99501

Example of Duties

The Investment Reconciliation Accountant will work in the Public Finance & Investment Division within the Finance Department. The incumbent will be involved in SAP development activities for Public Finance.

These SAP activities include:

  • Cash and investment management
  • SAP project systems for debt authorization and debt outstanding tracking to bond ballot proposition authorizations with Department level breakout at the project level
  • Investment and cash activities for SAP related activities

Other duties and functions include, but not limited to:
  • Downloading information from the Municipality's investment management system (currently Sympro)
  • Statements and activity reports from all banking services providers and related information from the General ledger (currently SAP) and reconciling these three databases on a regular basis
  • Researching, resolving and correcting discrepancies
  • Researching market values for all securities as needed, including securities that do not have readily available market values

 

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline and two (2) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience. 

OR

A certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and two (2) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience. 

OR

Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline and four (4) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience. 

OR

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and six (6) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience.
