This is an executive position (no union affiliation) and serves at the pleasure of the Mayor of the Municipality of 

Anchorage.

 

DEPARTMENT: Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility

HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 17:00

LOCATION: 325 E 94th Court

Example of Duties

Under administrative direction of the General Manager, performs high-level administrative management direction and control for the Treatment Division’s water production, treatment and distribution facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, laboratory services and industrial pretreatment program. Oversee the recruitment, selection and disciplinary actions of division staff. Manage, coordinate and establish policy and procedures, goals and objectives regarding the Treatment Division programs, functions and projects. Ensure division attainment of utility goals and objectives within fiscal and resource limitations. Manage the preparation of division annual operating and capital budgets, monitor expenses, and maintain budget changes within operating limitations. Coordinate division activities as required with various boards, community groups, consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies and the general public. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

 

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and twelve (12) years of experience in engineering, contract administration, accounting, program administration, utility management, managing projects or information systems of which two (2) years have been in a supervisory or lead capacity.

OR

Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Legal Studies, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Project Management or a related discipline and ten (10) years of experience in engineering, contract administration, accounting, program administration, utility management, managing projects or information systems of which two (2) years have been in a supervisory or lead capacity.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Legal Studies, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems. Project Management or a related discipline and eight (8) years of experience in engineering, contract administration, accounting, program administration, utility management, managing projects or information systems of which two (2) years have been in a supervisory or lead capacity.

OR

Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Legal Studies, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Project Management or a related discipline and six (6) years of experience in engineering, contract administration, accounting, program administration, utility management, managing projects or information systems of which two (2) years have been in a supervisory or lead capacity.

 

Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.

 

Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License and satisfactory Driving Record at time of hire.
