As a key executive team member, the Vice President of Finance plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization's financial future. This leader oversees all core financial functions at the corporate level—including accounting, consolidated tax and financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and treasury operations—ensuring strong fiscal health and full compliance with regulatory standards. Beyond the numbers, this role is a trusted strategic advisor, turning complex data into clear, actionable insights that guide business decisions and fuel growth. Collaborating closely with subsidiaries across a diverse portfolio, the VP of Finance champions innovation, drives continuous improvement, and helps align financial operations with the company’s long-term vision and mission. Key Responsibilities:
Accounting: This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and strategic integrity of all financial operations. From preparing timely GAAP-compliant financial statements and managing tax and audit requirements to overseeing cash flow and capital strategies, the VP of Finance supports both day-to-day operations and long-term growth. They continuously refine accounting systems and processes, leveraging automation to scale effectively. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders—including the Board and auditors—they provide clear, actionable financial reporting and insights. This leader also identifies risks and inefficiencies across the organization, partnering cross-functionally to deliver smarter financial strategies and improved business performance.
 
Financial Planning & Analysis: The VP of Finance drives the budgeting and forecasting processes across the organization, delivering clear, timely financial insights that support both immediate needs and long-term growth. By partnering closely with sector finance and operational teams, they help identify opportunities to improve performance and financial outcomes. They refine and enhance cash forecasting by incorporating cross-functional inputs and re-forecasts, while also streamlining financial modeling through automation to reduce manual effort. The result is more efficient, consistent, and reliable financial analysis that empowers leadership to make informed, strategic decisions.
 
Strategic Financial Support: This role plays a critical part in shaping and executing financial strategies that align with the company’s broader business goals. Serving as a key advisor to the CFO, CEO, and Board, the VP of Finance provides strategic insights into financial performance, risks, and growth opportunities. They lead the preparation and presentation of financial results, ensuring clarity and alignment across leadership. Working closely with the Corporate Development team, they support due diligence and financial analysis for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives. They also help manage relationships with key business partners, reinforcing the company’s financial strength and long-term vision.
 
Team Leadership: The VP of Finance guides and mentors the corporate accounting team, fostering a collaborative environment focused on professional growth and alignment with the company’s mission. They optimize team structure to strengthen financial support and champion a culture of transparency and continuous improvement. With a focus on efficiency, they streamline processes through automation and ensure high-quality outcomes. They also take on key strategic projects from the CFO and CEO, contributing to broader organizational priorities.
 
You need:  
  • Bachelor's degree in finance (MBA is a plus) with appropriate professional certification (CPA, CFA, CMA)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a finance leadership role in corporate finance, FP&A, investment banking or corporate development 
  • 3+ years of senior management experience leading through time-sensitive situations such as audits, acquisitions and financing
  • Advanced financial modeling and presentation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and consolidated financial reporting 
  • Ability to think creatively with a high standard of accuracy and precision 
  • Ability to organize, track, and manage a variety of concurrent activities and projects 
  • Strong interest in continuously improving the automation of the financial accounting and reporting processes
  • Excellent matured communication skills - written and verbal – geared to the relevant audience 
  • Self-starter, self-directed, and able to work independently as well as an effective part of a team 
  • Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic business environment
  • Knowledge of ANCSA and experience working for an Alaska Native Corporation a plus
