Join us for an insightful presentation from United Way of Anchorage President & CEO Eric Utraq Billingsley as he shares new Alaska-specific data highlighting a growing population that is often overlooked. These are the hardworking individuals and families who keep our communities functioning every day, working in essential roles across industries, yet struggle to afford basic necessities.During this discussion, Eric will be joined by Mike Jones of ISER to explore the challenges facing ALICE households (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), including the rising costs of housing, child care, food, transportation, health care, and technology. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the financial realities impacting working families across Alaska and learn how these challenges affect our workforce, businesses, and communities.
About the Presenters:
Eric Billingsley is the President and CEO of United Way of Anchorage, where he leads collaborative, community wide initiatives focused on advancing youth opportunities, financial security, healthy communities, and operating Alaska 211. Under his leadership, United Way Anchorage is driving measurable progress by reducing barriers and expanding opportunity for individuals and families across Anchorage.An Alaskan since early childhood, Eric has a deep connection to the people and communities throughout the state. He brings more than 20 years of leadership experience spanning both the nonprofit and corporate sectors, with a proven
record of strategic growth, operational improvement, and building high-performing teams. Throughout his career, Eric has remained focused on delivering results while helping organizations and individuals reach their full potential.
Eric is a graduate of the Anchorage School District and the University of Alaska Anchorage. He is deeply committed to Anchorage’s future and believes that lasting, meaningful change happens through collaboration, shared responsibility, and community-driven solutions.
Mike Jones works at UAA in the Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) as an applied economist. Mike is primarily focused on food systems, food security, and the impacts of transportation, infrastructure, and supply chain performance on economic development. His research involves collaboration across many natural and social science fields to examine complex impacts on markets, the environment, and society. Mike received his PhD in Economics from North Carolina State University and an MS in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University. Have a specific question for the presenters?
