Bea Pullekines grew up in western Pennsylvania before heading south to earn a B.A. and Master of Public Health from the Universities of South Carolina and Georgia. After graduating, she joined AmeriCorps to serve those experiencing homelessness in Juneau by helping them navigate health insurance options. She briefly returned to the Lower 48 to work at a state health department to provide technical assistance around various health topics to community organizations. When the pandemic hit, her role shifted to coordinating community testing and vaccination efforts. She made her way back to Alaska by joining the American Lung Association in 2021 and plans to continue supporting the health of Alaskans.
Born and raised in Utah, Jessica Frey earned her B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Utah State University. She landed in Alaska in the summer of 2010 and has never looked back. Her journey in the nonprofit sector has been marked by a series of impactful roles in Alaska’s thriving community including the American Diabetes Association and Covenant House Alaska. She entered her role as the Senior Director of Development for the American Lung Association in the Fall of 2021 and has been instrumental in helping return their events to profitable in-person fundraisers. This position allows her to work with many businesses across the state to secure funding as well as provide lung health education for employees. Her dedication to community engagement goes beyond her professional role as she is always a helping hand to other nonprofits, supports various fundraisers for schools, and is an active member of the PTA for her children’s school.
