Would you like to: 
  • Analyze and adjust assortment strategies, product mix, and inventory levels to deliver profitable growth and inventory turn
  • The senior buyer is responsible for managing, analyzing, and adhering to the Open-To-Buy for their respective department(s)
  • Adhere to standard procedures and maintain prompt, correct computer records, current costs, correct pricing, and accurate inventory
  • Develop a plan for how to warehouse, price, display, promote and liquidate every item purchased
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors
  • Collaborate with other departments to forecast demand, plan inventory levels, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services
  • Develop and maintain a thorough, up-to-date knowledge of department and the performance/trends of each specific market
  • Attend relevant trade shows, markets, and events to observe market trends, gather product information and purchase merchandise
  • Maintain unity and balance of core inventories for department(s) at each store
  • Monitor shipping methods, to keep freight costs to a minimum
  • Maintain regular, effective communication
  • Work with market managers and warehouse team to maintain timely flow of merchandise to sales floor
  • Work with the marketing department to plan and prepare ads, promotions, and events.
  • Travel as required
You need: 
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience, bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the retail industry
  • Strong Alaska fishing and hunting background and/or involvement in hunting and fishing in Alaska
  • 3 years of experience in procurement or purchasing
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically
  • Experience with product planning, sales forecasting, and managing multi-million-dollar budgets
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the desire to build lasting relationships internally and with retail partners
  • Demonstrated experience and success in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, organize and summarize complex financial information
  • Demonstrated ability to complete tasks in a timely manner without influence from other people or situations
  • Demonstrated ability to take a leadership role in building a solid foundation for future growth.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
