Job Information

 

Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

DEPARTMENT: Human Resources - Employment Services Division

HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
LOCATION: 632 West 6th Avenue Suite 605

** Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range **

Example of Duties

Responsible for reviewing completed employee hire packets and following up with the Employment Specialists on any missing documents. Track certifications and licenses as part of the condition of continued employment, along with follow up with departments and employees on upcoming expiration of certifications and licenses. Enter department accounting string information for the background check vendor invoices. Regular tracking to ensure ongoing federal compliance with citizenship and employment laws (I-9s). Daily management of the Employment/Records email inboxes and receiving and sorting out mail. Provide in person customer service and assistance to customers at the records window. Answering and dispatching incoming calls daily during regular business hours on both the Employment and Records main telephone number. Provide department Directors with employee date information regarding review dates, merit dates, probations, temporary and seasonal employees. Audit and maintain incentive pays for accuracy, including the maintenance of the supporting documentation for the incentive pays. Maintain the integrity of the ERP system with current and retroactive detailed entries. Provide unions with active employee reports on a biweekly basis.

Additional Information

This position primarily focuses on assisting the Employment team with entering onboarding packets and information, assisting and/or presenting weekly orientation, submitting orientation rosters and putting together welcome packages, answers and routes phone calls, manages and dispatches emails in the shared inbox, assisting customers with questions, submitting/collecting documents from external departments, collects badge forms, and other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

 

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and four (4) years of human resources experience.

OR

Associates degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline and two (2) years of human resources experience.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline and human resources experience.
