Job Information
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
This is an executive position (no union affiliation) and serves at the pleasure of the Mayor of the Municipality of Anchorage.
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
LOCATION: City Hall, 632 W. 6th Ave

Example of Duties
Set direction and positive tone for primary Human Resources functions consistent with AMC 3.30 and direction of the Mayor (or Mayor's Designee, Chief Administrative Officer) to ensure that operating units have employees that can serve the needs of the public by delivering municipal services.
Position drives process improvement in Human Resources service delivery to meet need expressed by employees, directors, and executive administration. Primary Human Resources units include Labor Relations, Recruitment, Benefits, Payroll, Classification, and Records.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
Associate’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related discipline, and twelve (12) years of Human Resources experience, two (2) years which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related discipline, and ten (10) years of Human Resources experience, two (2) years which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
OR
Master’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related discipline, and eight (8) years of Human Resources experience, two (2) years which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
All applicants must possess and/or obtain:
· Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License at time of hire.
· Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
