This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union.

 

DEPARTMENT: Planning, Development, and Public Works

HOURS OF WORK8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday
LOCATION: 4700 Elmore Road

 

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

 

Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties

Entry level professional administrative generalist responsible, under direction, for a full range of administrative duties.  As a member of the administrative team for the department, duties involve assisting with; payroll processing; updating personnel records and files; assisting employees and supervisors with personnel and payroll forms; administering and approving credit card purchases by staff; researching goods and services that the department needs to buy; inputting payment vouchers into the financial system; responding to audit requests; preparing billings and journal entries for payments owed the department; managing assets; and coordinating departmental software and hardware needs.  Position requires good communication skills, a customer-service orientation, and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.  Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

High school diploma, GED or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in the field related to the position.

or 

Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and two (2) years of experience in the field related to the position.

or 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and experience in the field related to the position.
