Evening Residential Counselor

We are seeking a passionate and empathetic Evening Residential Counselor to join our team. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides structured classes for students in employability skills and emotional development. Classes will include grief/loss, handling interpersonal conflict and how to deal with homesickness, among others. 
  • Develop activities promoting interpersonal skills that can be easily incorporated into existing meetings or group sessions facilitated by non-counseling staff.
  • Conducts periodic focus groups and provides feedback to appropriate entities; modifies programming based on student feedback.
  • Provides daily communication to the Counseling Manager and other Counselors regarding any concerns for student issues revealed during evening hours.
  • Maintain positive and effective relationships with students. Provide guidance for students to achieve a positive attitude, proper behavior and goal achievement.
  • Coordinate and assist with any social development activities promoting self-skills and professional growth with dorm and/or recreation staff.
  • Work with the Social Development Director to develop and execute a rotating schedule of presenting mini-sessions or activities at dormitory meetings.
  • Initiate and maintain welcome call and Social Intake Form (SIF) for each assigned student.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communications, or closely related field, OR,
    • Associate’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communications, or closely related field, and two years related experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree. 
  • Three (3) years’ experience in sales, marketing, or counseling.
  • Successfully pass a background check and drug test.
  • Valid driver’s license, with an acceptable driving record.
SCHEDULE, COMPENSATION, and BENEFITS:
Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 1:00pm-10:00pm (Tuesday, 12:00pm-9:00pm), plus on-call once a month
Position Type: Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Classification: Exempt
Compensation: $54,304.00 
Benefits: 10 days of vacation, 10 days of sick leave, 12 paid holidays, 401K plus matching after 1 year, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Medical, Dental, Vision and Life.
