Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Celebrates 118 Years of Sisterhood at Far Western Region Founders’ Day in Anchorage, Alaska
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — February 2026 — Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® (AKA), the first historically African American sorority, is proudly commemorating its 118th Founders’ Day in Anchorage, Alaska, February 13–15, 2026. Hosted by the Far Western Region Xi Psi Omega Chapter, the historic celebration is themed “Everlasting Love: Celebrating 118 Years of Sisterhood in the Last Frontier.”
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Alaska, the weekend will bring together members from across the expansive Far Western Region, including members from Alaska and surrounding areas, for a powerful gathering rooted in sisterhood, service, and celebration. The milestone event honors the enduring legacy of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Founding Members or the Twenty Pearls, whose vision and commitment to excellence have shaped generations of leadership and service since the sorority’s founding in 1908.
The Founders’ Day weekend features a series of meaningful activities, including regional meetings, chapter fellowship, and signature events that reflect both tradition and creativity. A highly anticipated highlight of the celebration is the “Boots, Buckles & Bling” event, which blends regional flair with AKA elegance, offering attendees an unforgettable evening of unity, joy, and connection with a western soiree feel.
Hosting the 118th Founders’ Day in Anchorage highlights the Far Western Region’s diversity and reach, while aiding to spotlight the contributions of Alaskan chapters such as Xi Psi Omega Chapter, whose dedication to service and community engagement since chartering in 1983 continues to advance Alpha Kappa Alpha’s mission locally and beyond.
“This celebration is a powerful reminder of the everlasting love that binds our sisterhood,” says regional leadership. “For 118 years, Alpha Kappa Alpha has remained steadfast in its commitment to service, scholarship, and uplifting communities and that legacy continues to thrive in every corner of our region.”
