CDL Box Truck Driver

JOB SUMMARY
CDL-A Drivers are responsible for the safe, efficient transportation and delivery of donated goods and other materials to and from the warehouses, stores, or ADC sites using company vehicles and equipment. This position operates on a schedule set by the Operations Supervisor. Drivers are required to provide excellent customer service to all customers and staff and must adhere to all Goodwill rules, policies, and safety procedures. Drivers are also required to assist in keeping the warehouse clean and organized and in accurately loading and unloading trucks and trailers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Drive trucks to and from stores, ADCs, donation sites, warehouses, and events, obeying all traffic laws and following security procedures to protect Goodwill vehicles and property.
? Assist in loading and unloading of trailers and/ or trucks at each location. Inspect and verify that each load is secure prior to transport.
? Maintain accurate pick-up/delivery records, logs, inspection reports, and incident reports as assigned. ? Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly vehicle (exterior and interior.)
? Perform safety inspections at the beginning and end of each shift. Notify immediate supervisor of any damage or needed maintenance.
? Help maintain the cleanliness of warehouses.
? Ensure that trailers are loaded safely and properly landed with jack stand under trailer.
? May perform routine maintenance on truck and daily inspections.
? Efficiently and safely load and unload trucks and trailers at the warehouses using pallet jacks and forklifts
? Complete cleaning tasks as assigned; help maintain the warehouses as safe, clean workplaces.
? Accurately sort salvage materials into assigned containers.
? Safely and correctly operate the cardboard and trash compactors.
? Safely and correctly operate the textile baler.
? Empty trash into dumpsters, flatten cardboard and place in proper receptacles.
? Prepare records and reports as requested.
? Perform other related duties as assigned.
? Occasionally work with the public when retrieving donations from sites.

JOB EXPECTATIONS
? Must immediately (within 24 hours) notify Operations Manager and Human Resources of any citations for DUI or moving violations, or if driver license has been suspended.
? Notify immediate supervisor of any problems or unusual situations, including accidents, driving citations, suspended drivers’ licenses, etc.
? Comply with all state and Department of Transportation guidelines. (DOT)
? Practice highest-quality customer service, including respectful treatment of all customers and staff.
? Offer helpful, innovative suggestions to help improve processes within the department.
? Represent the company by providing exemplary customer service to customers and co-workers. ? Use correct lifting and material handling techniques.
? Ensure compliance with all state safety guidelines.
? Ensure compliance with all GILSCC’s policies, CARF standards, and safety and security regulations.
? Must be able to perform essential functions of the CDL-A Truck Driver’s job description task analysis with or without accommodation.
? Must be able to follow written or verbal instructions.
? Must be able to meet and communicate effectively with the public.
? Must be able to read and write in English.
? Must be able to function independently and as part of a team.
? Must be at least 21 years of age.
? Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others or to property.
? No record or disclosure of criminal conviction that indicates a tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, moral turpitude, or predatory behavior.
? Must provide identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.
? Must pass criminal background check, pre-employment drug-screening test, medical exam and subsequent drug screenings/medical exams, as required.
? Must exercise good judgment.
? Be flexible in work assignment to accommodate changing production demands.
? Must have sufficient command of the English language to communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
? Report for scheduled work regularly and on time. Notify supervisor as soon as possible regarding the need for and expected duration of any absence.

EXPERIENCE Must be an experienced driver (1+ year of Goodwill experience preferred). Forklift experience desirable or ability to become Goodwill forklift certified.

EDUCATION High school diploma or G.E.D.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have a valid Oregon CDL-A Driver License while having and maintaining a good driving record. Forklift experience desirable or ability to become Goodwill forklift certified.

? The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
? Must be able to do heavy lifting, stand, walk, carry, push, pull, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, grasp, kneel and climb.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Indoor and outdoor working conditions with exposure to all weather. Work environment is mostly hectic with irregular short deadlines and limited number of critical or unusual situations. May be exposed to dust if working in a warehouse setting. Driving hazards as a driver of company vehicle. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. DOT Strength classification: Heavy

WORK HOURS Must be able to work all hours of operations and be able to work a flexible schedule.
