Job Information

 

Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

These positions are represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and are subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.

DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation
HOURS OF WORK: Hours vary; Monday through Sunday; between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
LOCATION(S): 1600 Lidia Selkregg Ln and 8400 Starview Dr

These are seasonal, part-time positions (working 32 hours per week), and will end approximately six (6) months after date of hire.

Employees who are initially hired for any Seasonal position shall be placed at Step 3, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

 

Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

 

To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.

 

Example of Duties

Under supervision provides leadership and functional supervision to recreation facility and program participants; organizes and cleans the facility in accordance with the facility operation manual; greets, registers, and admits participants into the facility. This is an entry level position that is distinguished from the higher classification level by its lack of managerial responsibilities. This position may be required to work outdoors in inclement weather and rugged terrain. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and three (3) months experience leading, directing, supervising, coaching, or teaching children and/or adults at a recreation facility, a childcare facility, a childcare program, camps, educational institutions, therapeutic recreational programs, team, organized youth programs, or other similar programs.
 

 - American Red Cross First Aid Certification and American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or equivalent within 30 days of hire.

 - Satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160 and AS 12.62.400).
