Membership Development Manager
In this position you will win over new members, in addition to ensuring retention and renewal of existing members.
JOB OBJECTIVE: The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce is one of Alaska's largest, broad-based business organizations serving nearly 800 members with 50,000 employees. The Membership Development Manager is responsible for expanding membership retention programs and increasing the bottom line of the Anchorage Chamber through strengthening relationships, membership growth, servicing new and renewing members, and collecting investment dues.
BASIC SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Should be a self-starter who can work in a collaborative team environment with staff and volunteers. Flexibility and exceptional people and multi-tasking skills are key. Broad knowledge of marketing theories and application for development of successful retention campaigns. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; familiar with general software programs and office equipment. Ability to learn and master new cloud-based CRM. Reports directly to the President & CEO.
A valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation to facilitate work away from the Anchorage Chamber’s usual place of business are necessary. Regular full-time shift expectations are Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m., however, the successful candidate must be flexible to accommodate events outside these hours, as scheduled, to support the organization after hours and/or select Saturdays.
JOB DUTIES:

Makes sales calls and follow-up on prospective member leads

Create and implement short- and long-range marketing plans and CRM campaigns

Manage membership programs, including annual strategic member retention plan, implement and evaluate it in coordination with other staff and volunteers, as appropriate

Track current methods, and research and identify creative and innovative ways to increase benefits, recognize members, and evaluate satisfaction and success through renewals

Outreach to existing, new and lapsed members to involve them in events and activities

Identify potential upgrades in membership (i.e. associate listing to enhanced listing, corporate level to executive level, etc.)

Report on member retention updates to the President, contributing to the monthly President’s Report to the Board of Directors

Coordinate and execute membership events, such as member orientations, Business After Hours, and ribbon cutting with staff and Ambassador Council

Educate members on utilization of Member Center tools and address questions, comments, and concerns in a timely manner

Work with staff on developing new sponsorship opportunities for events, including new sources of non-dues revenue

Manage and maintain membership database through ChamberMaster
SUPPORT:

Maintain awareness and understanding of all Anchorage Chamber events and programs

Serve as Anchorage Chamber representative on appropriate community boards and committees

Staff liaison for Ambassador Council

Assist Chief Operations Officer with School Business Partnership, as needed

Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and monthly board meetings

Collaborate with the team to create the overall annual strategic plan

Contribute to content creation for digital platforms

Aid in training and support of staff on membership tools, when appropriate

Work with staff to streamline billing and collection of renewals

Contribute in maintaining office and other common areas in a neat and orderly fashion
