Chief Financial Officer
Chief Financial Officer
Alaska Power Association is the unified voice of Alaska’s electric utilities, bringing together a close-knit, member-driven utility community whose work is essential to communities across the state. Alongside APA is ARECA Insurance Exchange (AIE), a member-owned insurance exchange created by Alaska utilities to provide critical, affordable coverage and share the benefits of strong underwriting and investment performance.
The next Chief Financial Officer joins at an important succession point. The role is employed by APA but is dedicated primarily to ARECA Insurance Exchange, where the financial and regulatory complexity is concentrated. The CFO will steward a combined investment portfolio exceeding $37 million across ARECA, APA and the ARECA Educational Foundation, while leading statutory and regulatory reporting, audits, budgeting, controls, investment reporting, administrative operations and selected human resources responsibilities.
This is not a large-company CFO role removed from the details. It is a hands-on leadership position in a small, collaborative organization where credibility is built through competence, judgment, accessibility and a willingness to pitch in. The successful candidate will become a trusted advisor to Executive Director Crystal Enkvist, multiple boards and trustees, staff, members, auditors, regulators, actuaries and investment partners.
Why this role matters
The CFO helps protect the financial strength of a member-owned insurance organization while supporting the statewide association that connects Alaska’s electric utility community. Success means accurate and timely reporting, clean audits and examinations, sound stewardship of assets, strong relationships, and practical financial counsel that helps boards and staff make good decisions.
