Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

This position is represented by the Public Employees, Local 71, and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union.

DEPARTMENT: Parks & Recreation

HOURS OF WORK: Varies depending on departmental program needs and operations; Tuesday - Saturday or Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm. 

LOCATION: 12001 Business Blvd, Ste 123, Eagle River

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

Example of Duties

In general, this position, under the leadership of the Gardner II, maintains existing, and creates new landscape sites and flowerbeds.  Position, plants, transplants, irrigates, fertilizes and provides general care of annual plants.  Requires knowledge of light equipment and small tool operation, and a high school degree, or equivalent.  Employee must be able to drive to various sites.  Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

At least 18 years of age with three (3) months of experience in greenhouse, horticulture, or landscape maintenance work, and use of associated equipment
