Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.
DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
LOCATION: City Hall, 632 W 6th Ave, Suite 630, Anchorage, AK 99501
Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.
Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties
Under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Administrative Officer, the Junior Administrative Officer serves as an entry-level administrative professional providing administrative and clerical support to all divisions and day-to-day operations. Duties include a full range of administrative and clerical tasks, including customer service for Parks and Recreation patrons, cash management, financial record keeping, payroll and accounts processing, time administration, and other special projects as required. Responsible for creating and maintaining general administrative files. Populates, tracks, and files utility invoices. Support procurement processes. Responsible for records retention and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for the Parks and Recreation Department. Assist managers in the hiring process. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
High school diploma, GED or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in the field related to the position. Employment is conditional based on a satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history.
OR
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and two (2) years of experience in the field related to the position. Employment is conditional based on a satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and experience in the field related to the position. Employment is conditional based on a satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history.
