Job Information
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and AMEA.
DEPARTMENT: Library
HOURS OF WORK: Tuesday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm
LOCATION: 3600 Denali Street
Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.
Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range.
Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties
Supports the daily operations, maintenance, and safety of the Anchorage Public Library (APL) facilities. Works with the Facilities Coordinator to ensure that library buildings are in optimal condition by monitoring facility tickets, working with the Municipal facilities department and contracted staff, and performing direct facility support. Helps create a welcoming and secure atmosphere by monitoring the safety of patrons, staff, and visitors using library buildings. Works cooperatively with contracted security personnel to enforce the Code of Conduct and assists in investigation and documentation of infractions. Monitors daily operations in the Loussac Library and branches for health and security best practices. Fosters a pleasant, helpful environment, builds relationships, monitors policy compliance, and assists patrons and staff with facility and safety concerns. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and experience in the field related to the position.
OR
Associate’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and two (2) years of experience in the field related to the position.
OR
High school diploma, GED or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in the field related to the position.
Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.Satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160 and AS 12.62.400) at time of hire.
