HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

Example of Duties

Under the direction of the Deputy Director, the Finance Manager supervises staff assigned to the Port Finance & Administration division and coordinates financial administration for Don Young Port of Alaska’s operating and capital programs. The position supports fund tracking, budget development and monitoring, grant administration, financial reporting, annual audit preparation, asset management coordination, and compliance activities necessary to support Port operations.

The Finance Manager works with Port staff and Municipal departments to support accurate reporting, cost allocation, asset tracking, fund reconciliation, archive coordination, and compliance with applicable requirements. The position also supports Port leadership and the Port of Alaska Modernization Program (PAMP) through financial tracking of grants, reimbursements, bond proceeds, capital assets, and project allocations, and helps resolve reporting, reconciliation, documentation, and cost-coding issues affecting audit readiness, asset creation, grant compliance, and management decision-making. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and nine (9) years of experience in program finance or accounting, two (2) years must have been with a regulated utility.

OR

Associate’s degree in Planning, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline; and seven (7) years of experience in finance or accounting, two (2) years must have been with a regulated utility.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline; and five (5) years of experience in finance or accounting, two (2) years must have been with a regulated utility.

All Applicants require:
Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
Satisfactory Background check at the time of hire.
