"Make it Monday" forum - Food Bank of Alaska
What is Food Bank of Alaska’s unique role in the state’s network of food pantries and meal programs feeding their neighbors struggling with hunger? Where does the food come from and how is it distributed? Who are the people in our community who need food assistance and how can you help? Some of the answers from Food Bank of Alaska presenters may surprise you.
Business is more likely to flourish in a thriving community where families are economically stable. The foundation for this stability is food security - not having to worry about your family's next meal. Food Bank of Alaska's mission is to work toward eliminating hunger by collecting and distributing food through 70 partner food pantries and meal programs in Anchorage and more partners statewide.
Monday’s forum will begin with a short presentation on the impact and influence of community and business involvement in schools, through the School Business Partnership (SBP) program. Most Anchorage School District schools have School Business Partners, but Central Middle School of Science is unique in that they have an entire class dedicated to the SBP objective. “These students get a kick start in developing and examining their potential career(s) and educational outlook,” says Erika Ninoyu, School Business Partnership Coordinator.
