MEET OUR PRESENTING ORGANIZATIONS
JUNETEENTH ANCHORAGE
Juneteenth Anchorage celebrates June 19th as a powerful citywide observance honoring the end of chattel slavery in the United States in 1865 and uplifting Black culture and contributions in Alaska. In Anchorage, the observance has grown into a multi-day community celebration centered at the Delaney Park Strip, featuring education, local Black artists, vendors, and cultural programming that highlight both history and progress. Anchorage formally recognized Juneteenth as a municipal holiday in 2023, following its designation as a federal holiday in 2021. The city first raised the Juneteenth flag at City Hall in 2021, marking a visible commitment to acknowledgment and celebration. Led by community partners like Juneteenth Anchorage and the Alaska Black Caucus, the event has evolved from local gatherings into a vibrant tradition often referred to as a “second Independence Day” for reflection, education, and unity.

Local Alaskan event coordinating company Huycke Entertainment and the Alaskan AIDS Assistance Association (Four A's), a local organization dedicated to supporting people living with HIV/AIDS, have partnered to host this year's Anchorage Pride Festival at Delaney Park Strip.
These events and many more make up the Anchorage Pride umbrella happening citywide this June.
The diversity committee's mission is to better serve and advocate for the business community by becoming a more open, inclusive, and diverse organization reflective of the make-up of Anchorage. To accomplish this we envision a board that reflects the demographics of our city and a growing membership of businesses representing the diversity of our business owners and entrepreneurs.
All members and non-members are welcome to attend and share ideas to advance our diversity mission. If you'd like to present at a future meeting, please email diversity@anchoragechamber.org.
