Urban Snow Modeling to Advance Resilience for Today and Tomorrow (USMARTT)
Mission StatementUniversity of Alaska researchers want to understand how previous years of heavy snow affected your business.
Background
In Anchorage, Alaska, the urban area has faced the top three snowiest years in the last decade. In the last two years, 24 buildings have collapsed due to weight of snow, resulting in one fatality.
Survey Goals
Objectives of the research project’s business surveys include:
- Assessing risk perceptions.
- Understanding actions taken and not taken.
- Obstacles in removing snow from roofs.
- Identify potential ways to help in the future.
The survey should take 5 to 15 minutes to complete. Your participation is voluntary. You have the right to stop at any point or skip any question. Your personal information is kept private.
Benefits
This survey will help researchers understand how heavy snow affected businesses in the Municipality of Anchorage and may determine policies or programs that can help people in the future.
