GOODWILL INDUSTRIES “ROUND-UP FOR STAND DOWN” TO SUPPORT VETERANS IN OUR COMMUNITY

GOODWILL INDUSTRIES “ROUND-UP FOR STAND DOWN” TO SUPPORT VETERANS IN OUR COMMUNITY

From Sunday, August 31st through Saturday, September 6th, Goodwill stores in Anchorage and Wasilla will host a “Round Up for Stand Down” campaign, giving customers the opportunity to donate or round up their purchases to the nearest dollar in support of Stand Down, Inc. All proceeds raised during this time will help provide essential resources to veterans in need throughout the community.

Funds raised through the campaign will support the upcoming Stand Down event on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Ted Stevens International Airport North Terminal. The event offers local veterans access to vital services including cold weather gear, hot meals, flu shots, and community resource connections.

“Goodwill is proud to support Alaska’s veterans through both this campaign and our ongoing employment services,” said Joe Morgan, Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program (HVRP) Coordinator at Goodwill. “By donating and rounding up, shoppers can make a real impact in the lives of those who have served our country.”

As part of its ongoing commitment to veterans and the Anchorage community, Goodwill provides specialized services through its employment specialists. Located within Goodwill stores, the Job Connections centers at 3838 Old Seward Highway and 8931 Old Seward Highway in Anchorage, and 1660 E. Financial Drive in Wasilla, offer services to include:

  • One-on-one job placement assistance
  • Resume and interview skills coaching
  • Job referrals tailored to skills and goals
  • Help with applications, follow-ups, and access to computers and phones

These services are free of charge and available to veterans and their families.
