New Anchorage ID Check Law

We want to inform you about a new ID check law in Anchorage, which takes effect on March 1, 2025. This law requires that restaurants, bars, and breweries must now check the ID of every customer who wishes to purchase alcoholic beverages, regardless of their apparent age.

For additional context, you can review the memorandum authored by these Assembly members.

Advocacy

Although this law passed despite our opposition, Alaska CHARR remains committed to advocating for policies that prioritize flexibility and fairness for local businesses. We will continue engaging with policymakers to ensure that your voices are heard and that future measures take into account the realities of operating in the hospitality industry.

You can help strengthen our advocacy efforts by contributing to the Alaska Hospitality Advocacy Fund. Your support enables us to fight anti-industry ordinances like this one and protect the interests of our members.

If you have questions about the new law, its implementation, or our advocacy efforts, please don’t hesitate to contact either Alaska CHARR or Cook Inlet CHARR.
