Koahnic Broadcast Corporation to Host 30th Annual Alaska Native Art Auction
Koahnic Broadcast Corporation to Host 30th Annual Alaska Native Art Auction
30th Annual Event Marks Milestone Year for Indigenous Arts and Media
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Koahnic Broadcast Corporation (KBC) announced that it will host the 30th Annual Alaska Native Art Auction on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage, bringing together artists, community members, and supporters to celebrate three decades of Indigenous creativity and voices.
For 30 years, the Alaska Native Art Auction has been a signature event honoring Alaska Native artists while supporting Indigenous-led media and storytelling. In 2026, the event arrives at a pivotal moment. The Art Auction coincides with milestone anniversaries across Koahnic’s platforms and takes place during the first year in which Congress rescinded federal support that previously sustained Indigenous-led public media.
That shift has created an immediate and ongoing funding gap for organizations like Koahnic Broadcast Corporation, which operates KNBA 90.3 FM and distributes Indigenous programming nationwide through the Native Voice One network.
“The Alaska Native Art Auction has always been about honoring Native artists and culture,” said Jaclyn Sallee, President and CEO of Koahnic Broadcast Corporation. “This year, it also represents a moment of responsibility. The support generated through this event helps ensure Indigenous voices, language, and journalism continue to reach communities across Alaska and the country.”
This year marks the 30th Annual Alaska Native Art Auction, along with milestone anniversaries for KNBA 90.3 FM, Native America Calling, and Native Voice One. Funds raised through the Art Auction support Koahnic’s priority programming and platforms, including digital infrastructure and flexible support that allows the organization to respond to evolving needs. The 30th Annual Alaska Native Art Auction also marks the beginning of a year of milestone recognition and fundraising for Koahnic Broadcast Corporation.
The event features original works by Alaska Native artists, an Indigenous fashion show, live music, a hosted dinner, a VIP Early Reception and Art Preview, and both in-person and auction-based opportunities to support Indigenous media. The evening will also include a Fund-A-Need moment, offering attendees the opportunity to make direct, donation-based contributions in support of Koahnic’s mission.
