First National Bank Alaska donates nearly $1 million to Alaska organizations in 2024

Fourth quarter contributions of $488,791 pushed the total given to Alaska communities by First National Bank Alaska and its employees to nearly $1 million in 2024. Total contributions include charitable gifts, activity sponsorships and in-kind donations of time and talent during the past year.

 “First National has a strong commitment to our great state,” said Board Chair and CEO/President Betsy Lawer. “This commitment has been a core part of the bank’s mission and culture for more than a century. We believe community support is just one way we can help Alaskans shape a brighter tomorrow.”

Financial support totaling $995,840 was given to a wide variety of health, youth, educational, civic and arts organizations in the state. Educational and youth organizations continued to be a major focus of the bank’s support, with significant contributions to the Alaska Children’s Trust, Alaska Pacific University, Alaska School Activities Association, Boys and Girls Clubs, Covenant House Alaska, Ilisagvik College, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Junior Achievement, University of Alaska Foundation and many more.
 
Other noteworthy contributions in 2024 included the Alaska SeaLife Center, Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, Alaska Public Radio Network, Alaska Federation of Natives, Anchorage Concert Association, Associated General Contractors of Alaska, AWARE, Bean’s Café, Interior Regional Housing Authority, Kuskokwim 300 Race Committee, Leeshore Center, American Heart Association, Southeast Alaska Food Bank, Alaska Travel Industry Association, Armed Services YMCA, Special Olympics Alaska, The Salvation Army and United Way organizations statewide, among many others.

In addition to these donations, bank employees volunteered hundreds of hours to assist organizations and the people they serve. First National and its employees also donated thousands of dollars of gift items such as children’s toys, sporting goods, office supplies and clothing items to Alaska non-profit organizations.

In 2024, Alaska Business readers voted First National “Best of Alaska Business” in the Best Place to Work category for the ninth year in a row, Best Bank/Credit Union for the fourth time running, and Best Customer Service. The bank was also voted “Best of Alaska” in 2024 in the Anchorage Daily News awards, ranking as one of the top three in the Bank/Financial category for the sixth year in a row. American Banker again recognized First National as a “Best Bank to Work For” in 2024, for the seventh consecutive year.
