First National Bank Alaska contributes nearly $219,400 to Alaskans in Q1 2025 News Release: 4/24/2025

Alaskans statewide benefitted from contributions of $219,399.78 from First National Bank Alaska and its employees during January through March 2025. This total includes investments in Alaska communities made in the form of charitable gifts and community sponsorships.

“I learned early on that First National succeeds only when Alaskans and the communities they live in prosper as well,” said Betsy Lawer, First National Board Chair and CEO/President. “Experience has taught us these contributions are an investment in helping Alaskans shape a brighter tomorrow.”

Health, social service, educational and civic organizations from around the state were recipients of donations from First National in the first quarter.

Alaska’s youth continue to be a focus of First National’s support. The core of that commitment in the first quarter was the increase in the bank’s support of the Alaska School Activities Association with a $110,000 donation for title sponsorship of the 2024-25 school year. Other youth-focused support went to Alyeska Ski Club, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula, Gastineau Channel Little League, Juneau Douglas High School and Seward Children’s Museum.

Additional noteworthy contributions in first quarter 2025 included those to Alaska Village Initiatives, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women, Bean’s Café Empty Bowl Project, Juneau Economic Development Council, Koahnic Broadcasting, Kuskokwim 300 Race Committee, Resource Development Council and University of Alaska Foundation.

Alaska’s community bank since 1922, First National Bank Alaska proudly meets the financial needs of Alaskans with ATMs and 28 locations in 19 communities throughout the state, and by providing banking services to meet their needs across the nation and around the world.

In 2025, Forbes selected First National as the sixth best bank on their America’s Best Banks list, and Newsweek recognized the bank as one of the nation’s Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions. In 2024, Alaska Business readers voted First National “Best of Alaska Business” in the Best Place to Work category for the ninth year in a row, Best Bank/Credit Union for the fourth time, and Best Customer Service. The bank was also voted “Best of Alaska” in 2024 in the Anchorage Daily News awards, ranking as one of the top three in the Bank/Financial category for the sixth year in a row. American Banker again recognized First National as a “Best Bank to Work For” in 2024, for the seventh consecutive year.

For more than a century, the bank has been committed to supporting the communities it serves. In 2024, for the eighth consecutive reporting period, over a span of twenty-four years, First National received an Outstanding Community Reinvestment Act performance rating from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
