Anchorage, Alaska — Alaska orthopedic surgeon Elisha “Eli” T. Powell IV, MD, FAAOS, has been named a member-at-large of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ (AAOS) Board of Directors following the AAOS 2026 Annual Meeting in New Orleans. Dr. Powell, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons—a distinction awarded to surgeons who meet the organization’s rigorous professional, ethical, and certification standards— currently serves as president of Orthopedic Physicians Alaska (OPA), the state’s largest provider of musculoskeletal care. He also serves on Alaska’s Board of Councilor’s Representative to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. “I am truly honored to join the AAOS Board of Directors,” Dr. Powell said. “Alaska has been my home for many years, and everything I do is grounded in serving the people and communities here. I’m grateful for the chance to bring an Alaska perspective to this role and to support the surgeons and care teams who work so hard for patients across our state.” Dr. Powell practices in Alaska at the Anchorage and Eagle River OPA locations.
