St. Paul & The Broken Bones have reached stratospheric heights with their raucous blend of rock, soul, R&B, psychedelia, and funk. Inspired by everything from visual art to the neuroscience of synchronized heartbeats, EMERGE125 proves that modern dance can be accessible and relatable to people of all ages and backgrounds. Sept. 28, 2024, in the Discovery Theatre. 

From the remote island of Tiree to headlining festivals around the world, Skerryvore has skyrocketed to become one of Scotland’s finest musical exports. And it’s easy to see why. Their eclectic fusion of folk, rock, and Americana – with thundering drums and bagpipes, of course – is as rich as a single malt scotch. Oct. 4, 2024, in the Atwood Concert Hall. 

The stairway to heavenly political satire originally laid by the Capitol Steps continues upward with the Capitol Fools — the new musical parody show. The equal opportunity offenders hold up a mirror to our crazy political culture, providing hilarious song parodies and foolish reflections that continue to inspire belly laughs. Choir! Choir! Choir! is an epic and unconventional concert experience: there are no auditions, and the audience is the choir. The night unfolds like a dream: show up, get your lyric sheet, and they’ll teach you an original arrangement to a song you love. October. 11, 2024, in the Discovery Theatre.

“Potted Potter – the Unauthorized Harry Experience – A Parody by Dan and Jeff” is back by magical demand! Playing to sold-out houses worldwide (and charming Anchorage audiences in 2016 & 2019), the Olivier Award-nominated Potted Potter takes on the ultimate challenge of condensing all seven Harry Potter books into 70 hysterical minutes. When Sammy Miller and The Congregation take the stage, class is in session. The coolest professor you’ve ever had, Grammy-nominated drummer Sammy Miller leads The Congregation in joyful jazz that just makes you feel good. They’ll take you on a musical odyssey with "100 Years of Jazz,” from its soulful New Orleans beginnings to the dazzling Roaring Twenties. Nov. 15, 2024, in the Discovery Theatre   

For over 30 years, The Nutcracker has become an Anchorage tradition that reminds us to dream bigger, leap higher, and experience the wonder of being a kid again. The elegant Eugene Ballet and young Alaska dancers coordinated by Alaska Dance Theatre return to the Atwood Concert Hall accompanied by live music from Anchorage Symphony Orchestra. The Portland Cello Project is back for the third year in a row with the Ugly Sweater Holiday Show. Featuring local guest artists this show is refreshing tonic to the hectic season, it’s one part variety show, one part holiday homage, one part freewheeling spectacle. Dec. 6 & 7, 2024, in the Discovery Theatre. 

Annual fan favorite International Guitar Night returns with an inspiring cast of guitar luminaries. This mobile guitar festival leaves audiences across the globe awe-struck with solos, duets, and quartets that highlight the boundless virtuosity and diversity of acoustic guitar. Although they reached another stratosphere of fame when actor/banjo player Steve Martin collaborated with the crew, Steep Canyon Rangers had already reached audiences beyond their bluegrass roots. The Grammy-winners exalt traditional bluegrass while bringing it down the mountain to all walks of life, incorporating Americana, country, and folk. Jan. 18, 2025, in the Atwood Concert Hall.

Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio is “I’m gonna get my groove on” organ. The Seattle-based instrumental trio spotlights the unmistakable Hammond B3 organ, creating a booty-shake blend of vintage soul that goes straight to your heart and makes your body heat rise. Feb. 15, 2025, in the Discovery Theatre.   

The Moth is true stories, told live and without notes, by people from all walks of life. Each performance of The Moth Mainstage is unique, illuminating the diversity and commonality of human experiences. Feb. 20, 2025, in the Atwood Concert Hall. 

Is it possible to create jazz music that appeals to everyone? With The Queen’s Cartoonists, it is. The jazz masters play all the madcap music from classic and contemporary cartoons, perfectly synchronized with the animation projected on stage. It’s the bebop of Betty Boop and the boogie-woogie of Bugs Bunny, complete with sound effects and shenanigans. Feb. 22, 2025, in the Atwood Concert Hall. 

If there were a Mount Rushmore of women in country music, it would include the faces of Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Dolly Parton. Three groundbreaking voices that revolutionized country culture, they blazed a trail for future generations of women in music.  A tribute to their artistry, Trailblazing Women of Country features intrepid vocalist, Kristina Train, supported by an all-female band performing classics of heartache, self-respect, and staying true to your roots. Celebrate Napoleon Dynamite’s 20th anniversary with a full screening of the film followed by a lively, freewheeling discussion with fan-favorite cast members Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Jon Gries (Uncle Rico), and Efren Ramirez (Pedro).  The live show – perfect for the whole family -- is a wild and hysterical blend of Q&A, comedy improv, game show, and party, with plenty of audience participation. With relentless rhythms and mesmerizing movements, the ancient Japanese art of taiko has captivated the senses for 12,000 years. Today Portland-based crew Unit Souzou forges new taiko traditions through their expressive blend of taiko, dance, song, and personal stories. Mar. 21, 2025, in the Discovery Theatre.    

Welcome to West Africa. Inspired by his daily life in Guinea, founder Yamoussa Bangoura’s Cirque Kalabanté – Afrique en Cirque transports you to a bustling marketplace exploding with vibrant color, live music, and tremendous circus talent. Acrobats flip, jump, and fly across the stage accompanied by rhythmic beats of Afro-jazz, djembe, and kora (a 21-string instrument), thrilling the audience and the troupe themselves. Mesmerizing and magical, Cirque Kalabanté leaves you feeling invigorated and alive. Mar. 28-29, 2025, in the Atwood Concert Hall.     

The terms “unique” and “one-of-a-kind” are often overused, but when describing Puddles Pity Party, they’re an understatement. The 7-foot-tall clown sings with a beautiful baritone, mixing melodramatic anthems and comedic hijinks, without a single hint of irony. Apr. 11 & 12, in the Discovery Theatre. 

Ensemble Mik Nawooj (EMN)’s Hip-Hop Orchestra Experience is part concert, dance party, and club night featuring original music that samples from classical and hip-hop. Their music uniquely challenges the MCs and classical musicians pushing the boundaries of both hip-hop and concert music, creating something completely new. Hip-Hop Orchestra Experience will feature local musicians from the Anchorage Youth Symphony. Apr. 19, 2025, in the Discovery Theatre. 

Using audio clips, music, and video, Ira Glass delivers a unique talk; sharing lessons from his life and career in storytelling: What inspires him to create? What drives his passion? How have failures and successes informed his decisions? During his presentation, Ira Glass will mix stories live onstage and help his audience better follow the creative process of one of our foremost storytellers. May 3, 2025, in the Atwood Concert Hall.
