October 5th Event Cancellation Follow-Up

ANCHORAGE - The October 5, 2026 “Make it Monday” Gubernatorial Candidate forum luncheon was canceled due to late-breaking changes to candidate schedules. The minimum threshold to host a candidate forum set by our Advocacy Committee is two candidates. Unfortunately, candidate cancellations were received Monday morning, setting us below the threshold. 

Many members and attendees looked forward to this important advocacy and candidate education session. We appreciate the grace and understanding of those we met at the door who came to join us for lunch. The Dena’ina Civic & Convention Center donated food prepared for over 120 attendees to local downtown soup kitchens.  

Registered attendees will be offered a refund or account credit to attend a future “Make it Monday” forum luncheon.

Thank you to those who assisted our team with planning, volunteered to support event check-in, submitted questions in advance, and stepped up to moderate this discussion. In the recent past, we’ve been able to pivot even for weather conditions to a virtual forum; however, this was an insurmountable obstacle. 

Tuesday’s “Meet the Candidates” Legislative forum at the UAA Alaska Airlines Center is an upcoming opportunity to meet and ask questions of your local state House and Senate candidates, from 5 - 7 p.m. This event is free, open to the public, with parking included. Thank you to event co-hosts Chugach Electric Association, Anchorage Economic Development Corporation, and UAA. 

We appreciate the community we have cultivated and the support for this late cancellation. We look forward to seeing our members again soon at a future event!
