Alaska Communications seeks nominations for youth who are local heroes

Do You Know an Incredible Youth?
Alaska Communications seeks nominations for youth who are local heroes

May 5, 2025 – Every day, young Alaskans are doing incredible things to help others – volunteering to support those in need, stepping up for friends or neighbors in tough times, or initiating projects that make their community better.

Alaska Communications is excited to celebrate extraordinary youth who are making a positive community impact through the Summer of Heroes program. In partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Southcentral Alaska, Summer of Heroes highlights outstanding youth across the state, awards selected heroes with $2,000 scholarships and special recognition in their local communities. Whether you're a friend, family member, teacher or neighbor, we want to hear about your favorite youth who is improving life for those around them. Nominations are due by June 13.

“We’re honored to support Alaskans who are passionate, innovative and have an unwavering commitment to bettering their communities. Heroes truly live here,” said Paul Fenaroli, president and CEO of Alaska Communications. “The Summer of Heroes program provides us an opportunity to spotlight young changemakers, investing not only in their futures but also in the future of our entire state.”

Alaska Communications also invests in youth through financial support for critical community programs. We will donate $25 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Southcentral Alaska for every new residential or business internet connection established between May 5 and June 15, 2025, up to $15,000. Now in its 15th year, Alaska Communications has donated $210,000 to support the important work of Boys and Girls Clubs of Southcentral Alaska.

"Youth bring energy, kindness, and creativity to everything they do,” said Susan A. Anderson, CEO of Boys and Girls Clubs of Southcentral Alaska “We’re thrilled to have Alaska Communications’ partnership to showcase their good deeds and inspire even more Alaskan youth to help others.”
