Job Information
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union.
DEPARTMENT: Parks & Recreation
HOURS OF WORK: Schedules vary. Monday through Sunday, 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.
LOCATION: 12001 Business Blvd, Eagle River, AK 99577
Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.
Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties
Under the guidance of the Recreation Program and Event Manager, this position plans, schedules, implements, and leads recreation programs and activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervising and leading park program participants in planned activities and events while complying with current program standards, directives, guidelines, and safety protocols; facility cleaning and supply organization. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and three (3) months experience leading, directing, supervising, coaching, or teaching children and/or adults at a recreation facility, a childcare facility, a childcare program, camps, educational institutions, therapeutic recreational programs, team, organized youth programs, or other similar programs.
All applicants must possess or obtain:
· A valid State of Alaska Driver's License with an acceptable driving record at time of hire.
· American Red Cross First Aid and American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification or equivalent within 30 days of hire.
· Satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160 and AS 12.62.400)
