Program Manager: Education & Leadership

JOB OBJECTIVE: The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce is one of Alaska's largest, broad-based business organizations, serving nearly 800 members and their 40,000 employees. The Program Manager plans, implements, evaluates, and improves mission-driven initiatives through the coordination of annual, monthly, and weekly events. This position also supports initiatives and committee work, and reports directly to the CEO.
BASIC SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills required. The preferred candidate is a self-starter who works well with a team as well as independently, and is able to systematize and project manage independently. Ability to anticipate needs and offer recommended solutions. Creative, outside the box thinking and problem solving. Excellent time management skills and attention to detail are requirements. Quality sales skills and rapport building to assist in fundraising and securing event sponsorships. Superb hospitality and professionalism, prioritizing program needs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Google Workspace products required; graphic design tools and marketing experience a plus. Ability to navigate and master social media to promote engagement.
Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation to facilitate work away from the Anchorage Chamber’s usual place of business are necessary, which may include access to JBER military base. Regular full time shift expectations are Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m., however the successful candidate MUST be flexible to accommodate events outside these hours with notice, on a scheduled basis, to support the organization after hours and/or select Saturdays.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program & Events Coordination - Successfully plan, implement, and evaluate all aspects of program-related events, including but not limited to:
- Project management for all event logistics
- Creating action plans and after-action reports
- Securing and tracking sponsorships for each event
- Soliciting volunteer support
- Developing bid proposals and contracts
- Setting budgets and operating within those parameters
- Marketing and advertising
- Accounting for event revenue and financials
This Program Manager is responsible for the above aspects of the following list of programs:
- Weekly - “Make it Monday” forum luncheon
- Monthly - Chamber Academy
- March - National Civics Bee
- March - ATHENA Scholarship Promotion
- April - Young Professionals Summit
- May - Super Sweepers
Program Coordination - The program manager is the liaison to the Young Professionals Group, external partnerships like the Anchorage School Business Partnership and the Academies of Anchorage Steering Committee, and manages the respective budgets and volunteer efforts for corresponding events, including special partnered “Make it Monday” luncheon events.
The position is also responsible for coordinating with committee chairs to guide the development of work plans, arrange speakers and tours, schedule meetings, send meeting notices and agendas, document the meetings, and provide any follow-up as necessary.
Marketing & Advertising - Development of marketing campaigns requires coordination with peers to integrate with communication plans. Common tools include website, digital, and social media marketing, although creative and cost-effective alternatives are always considered.
Other duties include:
- Relationship management with members and key investors
- Development of event budgets with the CEO, operating within or below budget
- Solicit volunteer participation to support organization events and programs
- Attendance in meetings, as needed, including updating the Board of Directors on annual event metrics and after-action reports
- Thanks and recognition for partners, in public and private formats
- Maintain accurate records
- Team collaboration in registrations, ticket sales, and day-of coordination
- Participation in weekly staff meetings
- Responding to phone calls and emails in a professional and timely manner
- Forward potential new member leads to the membership manager
- Contribute to cleanliness of common areas in a neat and orderly fashion
- Other duties as assigned

Pay range is $56K-$63K DOE, Exempt Salaried Position
