About Us

For over 100 years, Girl Scouts has helped girls discover their strengths, grow their confidence, and become leaders in their communities. From our earliest badges in electricity, aviation, and natural sciences to today’s all-girl robotics teams and cookie entrepreneurs, girls have challenged themselves through skill-building opportunities, connected with inspiring role models, and built lifelong friendships.

If you are passionate about making a difference, want to inspire the next generation of leaders, and are excited to support girls and volunteers as they build courage, confidence, and character,
Girl Scouts of Alaska is hiring a Membership Manager based in our Anchorage office. This position will pay $62,000 per year. We offer a robust benefits package with PTO, Medical, Dental, Vision, LTD and Life Insurance, and a 403(b) with employer match.

The Membership Manager plays a key leadership role on our team. You’ll oversee and support the Membership Specialists to ensure Girl Scouts across Alaska have access to dynamic troops, supportive volunteers, and meaningful experiences. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll not only guide the Membership team but also directly serve girls and volunteers in an assigned geographic area.

In this role, you’ll mentor staff, manage goals, and strengthen volunteer support while also building vibrant Service Units and ensuring excellent customer service. You’ll collaborate closely with the Marketing and Program teams, helping us grow membership and deliver on our mission.

You Are:

  • Committed to the mission of Girl Scouts and excited to become a member yourself.
  • A natural leader who can inspire, mentor, and hold a team accountable while fostering collaboration and growth.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to juggle multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable analyzing data, tracking progress, and making informed decisions to improve team performance.
  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with staff, volunteers, girls, and community partners.
  • Tech-savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience (or willingness to learn) Salesforce, Looker, and other digital tools.

You Need:

  • At least 2 years of experience in membership development, volunteer engagement, recruitment/retention, or a related field.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
  • A satisfactory annual background check.

You Will:

  • Supervise, mentor, and support the Membership Specialists to meet recruitment, retention, and volunteer support goals.
  • Lead training and onboarding for new Membership Specialists.
  • Set team goals, monitor performance, and ensure consistent processes across the council.
  • Support volunteers and Service Units by providing training, communication, and recognition.
  • Manage your own geographic area by recruiting girls and volunteers, forming new troops, and supporting existing ones.
  • Represent Girl Scouts at recruitment events, community activities, and Service Unit meetings.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Program, and Customer Care teams to align membership growth strategies and improve volunteer engagement.
