Food Bank of Alaska seeks a strategic, mission-driven Chief Financial Officer (Incoming) to guide financial health, operational stability and organizational effectiveness.

This executive leadership role oversees Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology, partnering closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to ensure long-term sustainability and strong governance.

The position includes a structured 15-month transition period alongside the current CFO before assuming full responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy
• Lead budgeting, multi-year forecasting and financial planning
• Ensure accurate, compliant financial reporting
• Oversee cash flow, investments and risk management
• Present financial performance to the Board and Finance Committee

Accounting Oversight
• Supervise accounting staff and financial operations
• Oversee grant and restricted fund accounting
• Ensure payroll, accounts payable and receivable accuracy

Human Resources Leadership
• Guide recruitment, retention and workforce development
• Oversee employee benefits and HR systems
• Ensure compliance with labor laws and best practices

Information Technology Management
• Lead IT strategy and cybersecurity practices
• Oversee financial systems, donor databases and operational tools
• Partner with vendors to implement upgrades and integrations

Organizational Leadership
• Collaborate across Programs, Development, Operations and Advocacy
• Strengthen internal systems and controls
• Support strategic planning and organizational growth

Application Qualifications

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
• 8–10 years of progressive finance leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, GAAP and fund accounting
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting
• Proven team leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred:
• CPA, CMA or MBA
• Experience in food banking, social services or multi-fund nonprofit environments
• Experience with ERP systems and IT governance
• Knowledge of federal and state grant regulations

Additional Information

This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.

The CFO (Incoming) role includes a structured three-phase transition:
• Phase 1: Onboarding and organizational immersion
• Phase 2: Shared leadership
• Phase 3: Full transition to CFO
