This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday 8 am - 5 pm
LOCATION: City Hall - 632 W 6th Ave, 4th Floor
Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

Example of Duties
The Network Engineer is responsible for the maintenance of the entire Municipal Enterprise Network. This position analyzes network traffic, determines technology standards for the Municipal integrates systems, and determines strategic directions for the Municipal data networks. Develops strategies and direction for network systems solutions using current and emerging technologies. Assists in the planning, forecasting, implementation and identification of resource requirements for network systems (including wireless) of moderate complexity. Responsible for designing, installing and troubleshooting network systems to meet the functional objectives of the business. Deploys the release of new technologies as well as designs, installs, configures, maintains and performs system integration testing of PC/server operating systems, related utilities and hardware. This position sets standards, integrates technologies, monitors and baselines overall network performance, corrects global network integration problems, and handle global network issues. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and ten (10) years of experience in information systems technology, of which four (4) years must have been in the data networking specialty.
OR
Associate’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and eight (8) years of experience in information systems technology, of which four (4) years must have been in the data networking specialty.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and six (6) years of experience in information systems technology, of which four (4) years must have been in the data networking specialty
Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.Satisfactory Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check within 30 days of hire.
