This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.
DEPARTMENT: Solid Waste Services
HOURS OF WORK: Hours Vary; Monday to Friday; hours to be determined
LOCATION OF WORK: Central Transfer Station: 1208 East 56th Ave, Anchorage, AK
Example of Duties
Supervises the activities of the Engineering and Planning Division. Serves as the Department’s Project Manager for large design and construction projects (over $100 Million). These projects are highly controversial and sensitive environmentally and to the public, and require significant coordination with stakeholders, public advocacy groups, state and federal agencies, and other Municipal departments. This position entails professional engineering and management work requiring use of considerable independent judgment and initiative toward engineering projects concerned with planning, design, location, construction and maintenance of Municipal structures associated with solid waste management. Position is responsible for environmental management and regulatory compliance at all of the Department's active and closed sites. This position exercises supervisory responsibility for four positions, an Engineer II, Engineering Intern, Engineering Technician I/II and an Engineering Technician
III/IV. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering, or a closely related field, and (8) eight years of progressively responsible engineering experience, (2) two years of which must have been involved in managing the construction of large engineering capital projects.

- Valid State of Alaska driver's license with satisfactory driving record at time of hire
