Nuvision Credit Union- Memorial Day Headstone Cleanup
To pay our respects and honor our Veterans laid to rest at the Anchorage Memorial Cemetery, our Nuvision Alaska team is partnering with American Legion Jack Henry Post 1 to clean headstones for Memorial Day. Our goal is to acknowledge the true meaning of Memorial Day, which is to pay our respects to those who sacrificed their lives while defending our nation.
We ask our members and the community to come together to support this project. Hundreds of gravesites are in desperate need of maintenance and many headstone markers are not visible, as they are overgrown with sod. We hope to pay tribute to these soldiers by making their names be seen and recognized.

The Legion's Auxiliary and the VFW will be placing American Flags and Crosses at each gravesite. Our volunteers will be placing a penny on each headstone to show our respect through the symbolism of that tradition. Leaving a penny means you visited to honor their service and family.
This is a great opportunity to pay respects and to give back to this Memorial Day weekend. You are welcome to bring your family or friends, the more volunteers we get, the larger impact we can make.
