"Make it Monday" forum - Secrets of Buried Treasure: Drinking Water from the Chugach Mountains to your Tap
Glacier-fresh water from Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility is renowned for its quality and reliability. Less well known is how Utility operations are focused on our commitment to safeguard the health and welfare of the public and the environment. We hope to shed some light on the Utility as an economic engine of the community, investing appropriately for the long-term interests of the rate-payers and the public at-large.
SPEAKER: Brett Jokela, GM, Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility
Brett Jokela arrived in Alaska in 1977 as a newly-minted graduate of the University of Michigan to participate in research on ecological processes in arctic lakes. He settled in Anchorage shortly thereafter. Since then, he has worked in water resources and civil engineering for public and private entities all across the State of Alaska. He joined the Utility in 2006 and was named General Manager by Mayor Dan Sullivan in 2013.
